week in review – Jan 27 to Feb 2

Last week was kinda super awesome.

Don’t get me wrong, if you asked the scale, she wouldn’t agree. But I don’t really care. It is really strange in my head, friends. The more focused I am on behavior, the more I notice behavioral change. I think the piece of me that made a decision to stop making it so hard has also kinda rejected the idea of having only one measure of success. Because, really, I feel fantastic this week. And I don’t give (much of) a flip that the scale was up this week. I know it is something strange with my body because I kicked it this week. <rant over>

My word for 2014 is assured. And that is what I have held on to. I am assured that my behaviors will lead to change. I am assured that this Precision Nutrition – Lean Eating program will work for me. And I am assured that by moving and eating and sleeping in the ways my body craves will lead to the body that I am supposed to have. And that is where I’m trying to leave it. Just work the program, Krissie. Just do what you’re supposed to do. Just listen, don’t think. Be assured. Amen.

Now, the workouts for the week that was:

Monday: Weight Workout 1 went up to two sets. And it was awesome. I felt powerful and excited and ready to roar. + #pilateaday

Tuesday: Active Recovery was 35 minutes of Wii boxing. I love that crap. I know I’m not really hitting a bag, but I swear I get the same catharsis. Also #pilateaday. And that is where I started to feel a little icky.

Wednesday: I just did the #pilateaday. I could feel that my body was fighting something off, so I gave it rest and allowed that to happen.

Thursday: 35 mintues of Wii boxing for Active Recovery and then I did the two sets of Weight Workout 2. Again, I felt strong and fierce. Plus #pilateaday.

Friday: Rest day, glorious rest day. But still #pilateaday

Saturday: I ran! A mile out to a hill that I hate. 5 hill sprints up the hill with walking recovery down the hill. One mile nonstop running back, then another mile + mostly running with a few walk breaks. It was so nice to be out there without paying attention to my pace or distance. My goal was only the hill sprints. Everything else was gravy. And then #pilateaday with Erin and Casey in Casey’s basement. Where I realized I’d been doing it wrong all week. Oh well.

Sunday: I did Weight Workout 1 and, good grief, my hips are a tight mess. Everything is sore. A lot of things kinda hurt. And I totally dig it. I also did my #pilateaday in case the weather hits and I don’t make it to my pilates class. (I’ll update you in the comments.)

And this is yet another week of Vegetarian-At-Home!

Lasagna spinach rollups. This just seemed like too much effort for the end product. I’ll stick to traditional lasagna making, thank you very much.

Mushroom Stroganoff. This was super tasty, but ended up being really high in calories. I guess that’s what happens when the sauce is pretty much liquified cashews. I’m not super focused on calories right now, but when this was more than double the rest of the week’s dinners, it caught my attention.

Bulgur Tostadas. And we have a winner, my friends. The spice from Happy Herbivore’s Quinoa Chorizo with bulgur substituted instead is AMAZING. This will be in weekly rotation. No questions.

Citris and Peanut Tofu with Quinoa and Brussels Sprouts. (I can’t get used to putting an S on brussels. I’ve always says brussel. Carry on.) This was a super winner, even though I hate evening lighting. I’m getting the hang of tofu, and adding a little teriyaki to shredded brussels might have been what put this over the top.

My friend Casey created a noodle pot and posted it on facebook. I consulted with her and with a recipe from Isa and ended up with this concoction of my own. It is pretty stinking glorious. And I’ll post the recipe later in the week.

I guess this would be a good time to tell you that I know I’m not a recipe developer or a photographer, but I like to try my hand at both. So, a little grace please? I can only have so much learnin’ going on in my head at a time.
