Oh, friends. I have had the most terrible stomach bug the last few days. Just terrible.
I don’t know where it came from. I feel pretty sure it wasn’t food poisoning because Nathan has been fine and we didn’t eat anything different. I’ve narrowed the possibilities down to 3.
1) It was just a virus. That’s it.(possible)
2) It was my body rejecting the cheese-its and drumstick I had Sunday. (improbable, as I started feeling ill on Saturday)
3) It was delayed-onset heat exhaustion from Saturday’s race. (possible, but I don’t know if it really could have lasted 4 days.)
So there you go.
I ran Saturday morning (I recapped the race over at the run group blog). Immediately felt icky. I told Nathan repeatedly that I felt feverish. Even though I didn’t have a temperature, I felt like I was feverish. I had a headache and felt the same on Sunday, and the stomach flu hit me in the middle of the night on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday were zero fun. Barely ate. Barely even left the couch. I felt human enough to go sit at the brewery while my friends ran Tuesday night, but that was it. It wasn’t a fun 3 days at all. I’ve been surviving on electrolyte drinks, Ezekiel toast and popsicles. Oh, and half of a soft pretzel. I’ve been taking it easy today, even though I’m really hungry, because I don’t want to take any chances.
I’m viewing this as a chance to push restart on Team Bob. I did really really well for a few weeks, and then I let this weekend derail me. I
allowed myself to eat way outside of the plan. I feel like I don’t have to worry about detoxing off sugar again because, basically?, my body has detoxed off most things in the last few days. I am a clean slate. The poor choices of the weekend are way behind me. I’m ready to hit the ground running.
I have a menu and grocery list for the rest of the week. I’m going to the grocery after work.
I have 9 weeks to lose 13 pounds to make it to my ecstatic goal.
Let’s do this.
